VinFast Debuts VF Wild, a Mid-Size Electric Pickup Concept, at CES 2024

VinFast unveiled the concept for a mid-size truck called the VF Wild today at CES, complete with rugged styling. Although the VF Wild’s battery and powertrain specifications are yet unknown, motors for all-wheel drive and driving range is at least 250 miles if it goes into production. The vehicle has a midgate bed design, which allows the cabin to open up to the cargo area, increasing the truck’s capacity to move cargo.

With dimensions of 209 inches long by 79 inches wide, it is unquestionably a midsize item. That is the same width and six inches shorter than the Rivian R1T. However, at 68 inches—a full 14 inches longer—the bed is longer. Nevertheless, it can be expanded with a midgate, just as a Chevy Silverado EV. Regarding this idea, the midgate is even powered. At the touch of a button, the bed wall, glass, and rear seats all fold down.

The styling is a unique fusion of tough and curved lines. It has a large power dome that is colored in contrast to its tall, flat, and wide hood. However, there are sweeping, flowing curves down the sides. The large fender flares are noticeable and colored in contrast, but it also have soft edges and tastefully merge in with the body. In a press release, VinFast mentions Australian studio GoMotiv for some of the design work on show. That’s a change from the VinFast lineup that Pininfarina created and is already available for purchase in America.

With loads of brown leather and accent cloth in charcoal gray, the inside appears to be fairly upscale. A mix of simplicity and more flowing, decorative panels can be seen, including the topographic map motifs in the doors and the scattered brown dots. The dash board is dominated by a single central screen, while the driver’s instrument panel is thin and located in front of the steering wheel. Additionally, it includes control stalks for what are probably lights and wipers.

The appearance of VF Wild at CES 2024 was a surprise and it is certainly a strong new highlight for VinFast in 2024 in the US. Let’s look forward to VinFast’s brilliant moves in the future!
