A Look at Pininfarina, The Italian Designers Behind VinFast

VinFast is proud to have partnered with the world-famous Pininfarina design firm on for its flagship premium EV SUVs, the VF 8 and VF 9.  Founded in 1930 as a coachbuilder, the company known as “Farina” at the time (named after the founder Battista “Pinin” Farina) was the first coachbuilder to construct bodies using the unibody construction technique.  The company was officially renamed Pininfarina in the 1960s and its budding emphasis on the science of automotive design helped it to stand out from other Italian coachbuilders, with even the construction of a full-sized wind tunnel green lit and finished in 1972. It was the first wind tunnel with the ability to test full-sized cars in Italy and one of the first in the world with the capability.  Currently with headquarters based in Turin, Italy, Pininfarina has designed a wide variety of automotive vehicles along with high-speed trains, buses, trams, yachts, and planes, and provides consultation on architecture and industrial/interior/graphic design.  Pinfarina took into account the proud heritage of the VF 8 and VF 9 through incorporation of the unique “V” logo in the grille that references the country of Vietnam along with the VinFast and Vingroup brand.  The partnership with…

5 Initial Reactions from Test-Driving a VinFast EV

  I had the amazing opportunity to drive the VF 8 in Vietnam back in September.  It was my first time getting behind the wheel of a VF 8.  Before I get into my initial reactions, I just wanted to say that before the test drive, it was extremely warm in Vietnam, and I was sweating bullets, so excuse the glistening look on my face given that I’ve been sweating all day.  Okay, on to my initial thoughts: Cooling seats – back to my point of being hot and sweaty during this test drive.  Usually when hot, you get that sticky leather seat feeling, but not with these cooling seats.  It cooled me down in a few seconds and it was able to get comfortable real fast and was able to focus on my drive. Touch Screen – we all know it’s 15.6 inches, but it’s hard to describe how crisp the screen is. What does the name VinFast stands for?

While VinFast may sound just like any ordinary EV company, there is so much more to the name than it sounds. The name VinFast represents the best of Vietnam and what it is going to be able to bring to the worldwide stage in an ever-changing global market and technology. So what does VinFast stands for? The VinFast name is an abbreviation of Vietnamese words: Vin: Việt Nam (Vietnam) As the company expands globally, Vin in VinFast traces the company’s roots back home in Vietnam. The Quick Story Behind the VinFast Brand

Before the VF 8 and VF 9 are out for delivery for consumers globally at the end of 2022. Here’s a quick story behind VinFast and how the company has climbed up the ranks through the years.  VinFast is a member of Vingroup, the largest private corporation in Vietnam. Vingroup has a sizable history in Vietnam, focusing on technology, real estate development, retail, and services ranging from healthcare to hospitality. The VinFast story started in 2017 with the establishment of VinFast’s state-of-the-art automotive manufacturing complex in Hai Phong, Vietnam.  The company debuted at the 2018 Paris Motor Show and launched the first three cars in 2019: the Lux A2.0 sedan, Lux S2.0 SUV, and the Fadil for the city commute. In just a year, VinFast became the leading car manufacturer in Vietnam, with sales leading in all three segments.  In 2021, VinFast expanded its vehicle profiles by introducing e-scooters and Vietnam’s first e-Bus. Weekly Update: What Is VinFast up to?

It’s been a busy year for VinFast. We had our first press launches and first drives by media partners in October, and we’ve also been working hard behind the scenes to make sure our innovative EVs are at the forefront of the electric transport revolution.  Battery Agreement  On November 3, VinFast’s parent company announced a partnership with Li-Cycle Holdings Corp that will see us participate in their industry-leading Spoke and Hub battery recycling program. This will ensure the lowest possible environmental impact over the life cycle of electric cars and set us up for more efficient, effective recycling well into the future.  You Can Drive a VinFast in LA  VinFast will be at the LA Auto show from Nov 18 to 27. The Electrify America test track at the LA Auto Show will host our VF 8 and VF 9 units giving attendees the chance to experience luxury EV transport firsthand.  The LA Auto is one of the biggest and most innovative auto shows around, spanning over 1,000,000 square feet and hosting every major automaker.
