oh no. the Bolt is much smaller than the VF8. Bolt is like VF6 size. A compact; calling it a SUV is a wild stretch.

he does ok reviews. He’s sometimes not prepared and production value is lacking sometimes as well. I have many youtube(rs) in my subscribe list vs depending on one. Can’t wait for them to do a review beyond a ‘first look’.

I think an only 2 year least is quite silly and few would choose it.

Kinda like the design of the VF7 over the VF8. And for me, smaller is kinda better. However, it looks like the moon roof doesn’t have a cover. A deal breaker for me, true…..

City Edition. The first 999 to arrive in US are that trim. Think what was advertised on their web site and then subtract a bunch of range down to 179. Oh, and no battery lease option.

appears the Canada website hasn’t been updated yet and still includes the battery subscription option. Inherently it also includes the price reduction when the option is selected; that was removed from the US website months ago……hmmmm.

the lease makes no sense. It’s far too short at 2years and the price is still too high for the range.

they will hype the speed from the last CES. they will say they met US demand and the promise that vehicles would be delivered by YE and kinda forget to mention it was the CE with lagging range (for the price). And really no US customer was in THAT much of a hurry to be the FIRST owner; that is totally made up.

they certainly need to make ‘rebooting’ the computer easier than disconnecting the 12 volt battery.

I’d buy the CE right now if the battery lease option was available. That would drop the price by around $15k-20k. Range of 179 is fine for me as a daily driver (and we still would have an ICE vehicle).

Number one question when does next batch ship and what trim?

I discount the Vietnam owner numbers going up. That is a different vehicle. I prefer to concentrate what comes to the US. I also put more stock into reviewers I trusted before they went to Vietnam for the all paid for lux vacation. Most of them were 100% positive. oh, Hi Mod17: I think what vinfast missed was there wasn’t any ‘customer excitement’ over being the first to have a VF8 in calif if the sacrifice was range with the CE. I think vinfast disappointed way more reservation/order holders than you might have made ‘happy’ with a Dec delivery. Oh well, water under the bridge.

as long as we are speculating here I don’t think US banks will care much about the battery being leased. Plus, near impossible for vinfast to negotiate with every single US bank. Pretty sure it will be a non-issue.

I think at least one of the lists displays the true commercial vehicles and vinfast is not listed there at all. I think this entire ‘lease’ gets the credit is a stretch…….so anybody looking at that should have a long conversation with their tax person first as it will be a long shot.

There is some confusion here. Those reservation holders who converted to a order prior to bill signing should get the credit from IRS or Vinfast. All else will have to wait until after units roll out of the not built yet US factory. And at best that is half the credit. most definitely not including the fed tax credit. VF8 Plus is $48,900 incl delivery charge.

vinfast is not listed on any lists, just yet. With CE here in calif, I’m not sure any of been delivered to customers. Hope they get their crap together and have the VF8 trims displayed on the website in the next batch due 1st quarter 2024.

I made the mistake of not screen shooting the info. I did write it down, tho. And did confirm with vinfast all that info remains locked regardless of later changes. Will vinfast honor that? Time will tell.

Our reservations include the model/date etc and that is about it. In fact, mine says refundable even tho I converted to an order. Oh well.

My understanding is even if 2023 delivery the old law still applies if one had a signed contract prior to bill signing

Plus, if true Vinfast would owe me the credit per the contract. I’m not picky who pays me. 🤪

If you can wait I’d do that. If you can’t wait, time to look at the other EV choices. None of which offer any perks or incentives.
