For now, Tesla model Y is around $55k, and model 3 is $44k. Vinfast model VF8 is surpassed on pricing compare to Tesla at $59k , it might need to re-price for competition. According to Vinfast statement:”As a new brand entering the market, when other brands reduce their prices we have to come up with promotions to ensure VinFast’s competitiveness.”.

I will look forward to see what Vinfast will do, I hope a reduce price of 20% – 15 % will do

I have a feeling they will drop the VF8 to probably about 52k with battery. But only time will tell. But being a early reservation holder mine will be around 44k with subscription hopefully.

I agree I hope it is a price reduction. As a Vinfirst reservation holder I doubt we will get an additional discount although that would be great considering all the recent bad press for the CE. However I’m scared because it says promotion that could mean anything like another free vacation that I will never use 😅. The Blazer EV is looking nice so hopefully Vinfast gets there act together. I almost pulled the trigger on a model Y but I need an opening sunroof so if the VF8 falls through then likely will get a Blazer EV or EV6.

You can always sell the vacation package back as that is REAL money and there is always a demand for it!!!

You have to use it by end of 2023. That’s the fine print on these offers.

whatever they do it will be too late for many who ordered a tesla. Mine arrives Friday. About to cancel my reservation/order myself.

Have you done it @Scott Hale? I’m about to pull the trigger as well… it’ll be a pity to lose you as you’ve been so active on the forum 🙂

also there’s just so much uncertainty around delivery time for the VF9…

My model Y performance is arriving next week. It is cheaper than the VF8 for sure. Oh by the way, IRS let you claim $7500 for all model Y now. That would put my model y about $49500. It is an uphill battle for VF8. VF9 will not qualified for tax incentive because it odd more than $80K MSRP. So I will have to cancel both my reservations. Anyone wants the vinfirst duscount, let me know.

Vinfast is really losing it unfortunately. Was cheering for them big time but the latest message from them has been very sobering.

    And the price quoted was

We no longer offer battery subscription, (we plan to offer battery subscription in the future-TBD) so the numbers I am going to give you are just for the VF9 ECO and PLUS trim with the pricing of the battery (STANDARD BATTERY ONLY) that will be included with the total sale price.

    VF9 ECO = $74,000
    -VF9 PLUS= $79,500

When did you make the reservation?

That price doesn’t look right unless Vinfast is living in wonderland.

they certainly have backed away from the subscription model. That was pretty much the only reason I ordered one (now canceled). Plus, you know, being on the ground level of something new. Oh well. My Tesla YLR was delivered last night, so I’m happy.

Vinfast made a whopping mistake with the City Edition, not communicating well (as they promised). Tesla price reduction was a shot across the bow of all the EV startups. It certainly got me to place an order.

I know right… Made the reservation early August with the assumption of the subs model – I think it was around 55k.

I think I’m on the verse of ditching Vinfast if there is no new about pricing. I’m the first 3k of reserver but Tesla temptation is so high. A look over Highlander Hybrid, Lexus RX350H and Rav4 Prime, I found they are also good contenders for me to drop VF8 plus. Darn it, I was hoping Vinfast can make it through this market. Maybe in another 7 yrs, once I’m done with ICE/Hybrid car

I contacted Vinfast again yesterday after seeing @Robert Herman post and asked what was going on with the battery subscription. The gal (assumed she’s one of the CEE) once again indicated to me that the battery subscription is still on the table only for VF8 model and not VF9. Someone is welcomed to verify this info.

I contacted them today via chat and per the person for VF8, “we are still finalizing some sales plans regarding the batter subscription, it will be available exclusively for VinFirst Pioneer for just $110/Month!

Also, checked for the VF9, “For the VF 9 it will be $160/month and that’s also exclusively for VinFirst Pioneer only!”

Prices drop on leasing VF8 now. $519 (ECO) $599 (PLUS) and 36 months instead of 24. Any takers?

I just got an email. As a Vinfirst I can lease the city edition for $429 month AFTER $5,000 capital cost reduction for 36 months. That makes it effectively $567/month. Still too much for a 200 mile range 5 seater. If that offer comes for the VF9 I’d consider it as we need 7 seats, otherwise Vinfast still has more room to go price wise.

Vinfast has posted new pricing on VF8 City Edition. Does anyone remember the price on VF8 Plus going back to April-May 2022 time frame?
