I am sharing my experience on my trip taking my family to Vietnam visiting Phu Quoc and Ha Long Bay using the VinFast Vacation. First, the hotels and staffs are exceptional in their services. You will feel very welcome to their properties. The not so good part about this offer is in the fine print. It is not free after all. I had to pay surcharges and miscellaneous services for both locations for a total total cost of about $1500. The worst experience for both locations are drinks. You have to pay even a soft drink for your buffets. By the way, you only get buffet for your 3 meals per day and the food is mediocre for a 5 stars resort. set menu dining is available but you have to pay for each person in your party for about $70-$120 per meal. For the same money I paid for this trip, I would get better deal at Marriott property where I am an Elite member. So you have to think about the total cost to fly your family to Vietnam and additional cost to stay at the hotel before traveling. I am waiting to buy the VF8 plus when available outside CA and hope that VinFast can work with VinPearl to improve the accommodation next time especially the food. Same buffets for all 6 nights is a bummer. I will travel to Nha Trang and Hoi An next time.

    Hi Hieu,

Thank you for sharing your experience!

We booked the trip with Vinpearl for this coming trip to Việt Nam. What are the surcharges and miscellaneous services were you being charged for?

    Thank you,

    Kevin.

Another thing you may have to consider is whether the “Free Vacation” will be reported to IRS. If so, you may get stuck paying taxes for your “Free Nights”. I won a free cruise and ending up paying taxes on the “rack rate” price of the cruise. Nothing is free.

The cruise company did not collect your taxes, did it? That’s two separate things you are talking about. You still have to pay for taxes even if you pay full price for the cruse,

    Hi Hieu .

Thank you for your sharing. How much total you spent on the Vinpearl Phu quoc & ha long ?

I thought is all free for Vinpearl for 5 people in the family members.

      Hi Trinh,

The offer does say the accommodation is for up to 4 people only. I had a response from Vinpearl stating each person beyond 4 will be subject to a surcharge of 3.1 million VND (about 135 USD) per night.

      Hope this helps

I had 2 additional people to join me for a total of 6, it costed me about $1500 for both locations.

That’s 2 more people than the voucher allows. So 2 extra people with food, drinks, fees.. at $1,500 for 6 nights at a 5-star Resort? That doesn’t sound too outrageous, does it? A night at VinPearl is already costing a few hundred dollars..

That sounds disheartening! I didn’t expect everything to be “free” but $1500 for “surcharges and misc. services” is a lot! What are they, can you please share?! Thanks!

when booking, you have to pay hotel surcharge based on location. if you bring more than 4 people to the trip, you have to pay full price for each even they share your room, and the catch is you have to pay for their 3 buffets per day as well (about $100 per day per additional person), but the food is mediocre at best. Alcoholic beverage and beer are not included in the offer, and you pay 5 times the cost compared to outside the hotel because their property is rated 5 stars. I had my parent-in-law to join me, and yes, I paid about $1500. With this cost, I could pay for th nearby Marriott hotel and get a better service as their elite member. So, I paid hotel surcharges about $300 for Phu Quoc and $1200 for Ha Long. I have not included money I paid for drinks and miscellaneous.

Sorry to hear about your experiences. I thought you should have known about the VAT and fees at resorts in particular. Soft drinks are considered premium drinks for which you have to pay. You’ll be better off with a Tiger lol. I would never eat foods at a resort (particularly Vinpearl) unfortunately these resorts are off in a remote location so you need to catch a Grab or arrange for transportation to/from city eatery locations for much better foods and a hell lot cheaper.

VinPearl locations are remote or isolated for most locations. If you come to relax then it will be great. Otherwise, just get a hotel in downtown for more activities.

I highly doubt it. I received the code to claim the package after I picked up the car. The reversed question is what if you don’t buy the the car after your vacation?

VinFast will set you up with VinPearl Vouchers. You can use the vouchers to book the resort of your choice on your own. That’s when you have to pay the additional charges.
