I often forget to plug in the car battery charger at night, so I usually use the Hyper-Fast charging station, but my wife said that if I use the Hyper-Fast charger too much, my car battery will quickly deteriorate. But in my opinion, it doesn’t matter. Can anyone help me explain it?

Fast charging does where down battery quicker. However if a lease of CE who cares you only have CE for 2 or 3 years. Plus they have the degresation aspect in warranty as well. If battery gets below 70 percent new battery for free lol. Within 10 years I think is their warranty.

I have to fast charge as I do not have a suitable outlet at home and would cost too much to put one in.

A level 2 outlet (240V) shouldn’t cost more than $300 to install providing you still have room/capacity in your existing panel. The level 2 portable charger itself already comes with the VF8.

    Hi Salvador,

Most EVs could take hyper fast charging at minimal damage to battery longevity. I have had my Tesla model S for over 6 years, got it brand new, I have always super charged, never slow charge at home. After 53 thousand miles, the battery life lost about 5-9% charge. That is impressive considering I always super charge. I don’t see how VF8 could be so much different than my Tesla, of course, the only scientific way is to test it after 6 years. Just a reminder, never super charge to over 90% battery level, I personally keep super charging up to 80% then I stop. Never let your EV drop below 20% for too long either.

Slow charging, Level 2 charging (20 miles or so per hour) is better for battery compared to hyper fast. But in 2023 where life is busy, hectic, and unpredictable. There are times where you would occasionally hyper fast charge and it should not be a problem. No need to worry too much in this department.

Hi Hoang , thank you for your information. That number is so insightful. Losing 5-9% battery capacity after 6 years and 53k miles sounds very promising. I totally agree that we should care less about the damage to the battery but care more about how conviniently we charge. As long as it fits our schedule.

I only hyper fast charge to 80% when roadtripping.

Normally, I level 2 charge my VF8 at home with the VF8 portable charger.

Since i am leasing this CE for 2 years, I’m not worried about battery longevity.

As far as I know, hyper-fast charging work best at 10%-70 80%. It ‘s not harmful at all to the battery. Other than that it may be a little bit slower, so take more time to wait. Btw, if you have charger at home, you should change your habit.
