    My kids 10years old identified most of the problems. I am curious if they did any quality check before delivery

    Major Issues:

    • Vehicle unresponsiveness: Twice in 4 days, the car was unresponsive, requiring a family member to stay in rain and cold weather (very dangerous) and wait for the car to restart(extremely dangerous).
    • Unintended rolling: Once, the car started rolling back when parked on a slight incline, requiring me to activate creep mode. Additionally, while parked in reverse, the car inexplicably moved forward even with the gear in reverse (extremely dangerous).
    • Speaker malfunctions: The speakers were unresponsive the first two days. On the second occasion, restarting the car resolved the issue but resulted in loud noise from the front speakers.
    • Climate control malfunction: Despite turning off the AC and fan, cold air continues to come inside from the vents regardless of settings. This is uncomfortable and unusable during winter.
    • Heads-up display not working(extremely dangerous).
    • Battery warning: Technician mentioned battery is weak on new cars as per my knowledge batteries typically last 10+ years.
    • Paintwork inconsistency: The driver-side paint color is uneven, with a clear and obvious difference between the top and bottom portions.
    • Frunk battery cover broken.

    Minor Issues:

    • Manual adjustment of drive mode required each time.
    • System automatically turns off the 360-degree camera on turn signals.
    • VinFast navigation is slow and inaccurate. Using CarPlay, but it frequently disconnects.
    • CarPlay connects even when the car is parked, interrupting phone calls while talking inside home.
    • Automatic locking not functioning as advertised. Sales rep mentioned I can just walk away with a key that will auto lock which never happened.
    • Defrost fan automatically defaults to a high speed, and hot air directly on my face. If I try to change the fan speed, Defrost disabled. So I need to drive with a hot fan speed on my face.
    • Lane assist malfunctioning, pulling the car closer to the right/left lane instead of correcting.
    • Occasional triangle warning appears on the screen, unsure of its meaning and safety implications. No other information about the warning signal and not sure if I am safe to use the car.
    • Many settings reset between drives, requiring manual adjustment.

    Hey there,

    Nice list. I feel like that last point is “major” for me – resetting many settings between drives majorly inhibits the enjoyment and ease of the drive. It’s linked to the profile, so why on earth would it reset between drives causing users to go into the menu, menu, menu to put them back as they had set it? This includes for me drive mode, driver monitoring systems, lights, warnings and chimes…

    As for the others you noted, I’ve experienced the same when it comes to: rolling backwards, audio stereo becoming “possessed” and in general is poor quality, climate control pushing air at all times (and also not automatically syncing sides? weird), CarPlay staying connected when it shouldn’t, the doors not locking when walking away and also the key fob has no bumps to indicate lock or unlock buttons forcing you to look at the keys… I will continue to note what I’d like improved.

    I highly doubt a 10yo can accurately identify a real QC issue vs user error. I suggest you join several online forums (FB) out there and get some tips/ troubleshooting with your issues. Owners on these forums are very helpful. Some items on your list are real, while many actually have solutions to them. It is not a perfect car, but definitely a reliable vehicle that I have came to trust over the last 14K miles.

        Not all, but many of what you listed in your post. Owners’ forums allow you to see what others have done with some of the issues you encountered. You may be surprised of what you may learn. It isn’t a perfect car, but for the money that you paid (current lease), you can’t get a better deal.

    Did you get compensation from the VinFast since the car is dead and small problems?

      I requested for buy out as my family is not comfortable in this car. I did not get any response yet.

      More than 3 weeks I raised issue and service person took my car two weeks back and agreed on paint and all issues. He offered new car new VIN but my concern is basic check is not done how I can trust the car? I send couple of email to customer support and message to tech person no updates. Today He send me:

      Hi, this communication is regarding the 2023 VinFast VF8 VIN #XXXXX left at VinFast’s premises at 3230 Auto Plaza in Richmond, CA. Please be aware that VinFast does not have a vehicle return policy and has not accepted the return of your vehicle. There is a no cooling off period, and the vehicle remains the property of you and/or your leasing company or financing source. Leaving the vehicle does not create a bailor/bailee relationship between you and VinFast. VinFast retains the rights to immediately begin charging storage and administrative fees of $95.00 per day until the vehicle is removed. You have 24 hours to pick up the vehicle, after which time VinFast will contact the financing source, inform them of the abandonment, and instruct them to retrieve the vehicle immediately.

      VF team agrees on hardware and software problems still force customer to take the car. Software I understand over time they will fix it but what about paint and other things? Customer service or management no one updates on issue.

        Pedi, please keep the site updated on how this plays out. If Vinfast doesn’t admit to its shortcomings and back up it vehicles, sales won’t increase and NC won’t be selling any cars and may eventually shut down. I agree the quality checks aren’t done well as my car was delivered with tires under inflated, small ding near door handle and not all settings were working correctly. I hope things change for the best for you and VF agrees to replace lemon car.

    I bought Vf8 eco car yesterday and did face some of these issues..

    • Speaker malfunctions: The speakers were unresponsive on the first day. restarting the car resolved the issue but resulted in loud noise from the front speakers.
    • Climate control malfunction: Despite turning off the AC and fan, cold air continues to come inside from the vents regardless of settings. This is uncomfortable and unusable during winter.
    • The 360-degree camera doesn’t work on turn signals.
    • VinFast navigation is slow and inaccurate. Android auto connections is slow.
    • Android Auto connects even when the car is parked, interrupting phone calls while talking inside home.
    • Automatic locking not functioning as advertised. Sales rep mentioned I can just walk away with a key that will auto lock which never happened. ====> this is much indeed and it must be fixed.
    • Defrost fan automatically defaults to a high speed, and hot air directly on my face. If I try to change the fan speed, Defrost disabled. So I need to drive with a hot fan speed on my face.
    • Lane assist malfunctioning, pulling the car closer to the right/left lane instead of correcting. It does try to pulll one side instead of correcting.
    • triangle warning appears on the screen always, unsure of its meaning and safety implications. No other information about the warning signal.
    • Back camera turns off if you try to open some apps on the screen. Idle screen should block all other operations when car is in reverse mode.

    Pydi,

    I totally agree with you on the issues you are having with your VF8. I have VF8s for over a year now and many of the items you reported in your post are exactly what we are experiencing. I hope more VF8 owners communicate their issues with their cars.
