    It’s time for our first-ever “Ask Me (Almost) Anything” session! This week, we’re giving you the chance to go behind-the-scenes with Andy Steinhauser, the Inside Sales Manager at VinFast North America. We will be collecting questions from community members in advance and will provide answers to some of your questions on Thursday, February 16.

    Writes Andy: “Hey everyone! I’m Andy Steinhauser, the Inside Sales Manager at VinFast North America. I’m excited to be here and chat with all of you about our brand, our exciting new VF 8 City Edition, and anything else you’re curious about.

    Before joining VinFast, I spent years traveling the world and working as a professional spokesperson for numerous companies on the world’s largest automotive stages. When I’m not at work, I love hiking, exploring local LA hot spots and hitting the beach with my family. So, whether you’re curious about the auto industry or just want to chat, ask me almost anything!”

    VinFast community members are invited to post questions for Andy on this thread about the VF 8 City Edition by sunset (your time) on Wednesday, February 15. To ensure we make optimal use of Andy’s time, we’ll review and select the very best!

    In Canada, when can we test drive on public roads?

      Canada: Test drives will be available at VinFast Stores in Canada in late Spring 2023. Once we have the exact date, we will let our Canadian customers know when test drives will be ready. Currently we are at the Toronto International Auto Show where indoor test drives are taking place.

      Canada: Great question! The final pricing details will be announced. We want to make sure we work out all the details on our end and we will communicate those details prior to order confirmations.

      Canada: The first deliveries are expected in late Spring to early summer for the VF 8 and in the Summer for the VF 9!

      Andy: We are so close to announcing our trade in partner, just know it’s a well-known brand name and our trade in process will be transparent and seamless. Once you place your order for your VinFast, you will begin working with your Delivery Advisor who will guide you through the Financing and Trade In process. You will receive your trade offer in minutes as it’s all digital. After the City Edition, we will offer Financing, Cash Buys and Leasing. The City Edition is the only product that will be Lease Only.

    In late June, I received an e-mail from Vinfast giving an update and mentioned covered services such as scheduled maintenance would be included. Please confirm what these services are?

      Andy: Overall, EV’s in general have much lower maintenance costs than a traditional gas-powered vehicle. Our bumper-to-bumper 10 year / 125K miles warranty covers mechanical failures, and helps to keep you on the road, but does not cover every day wear and tear items such as breaks, tires, wipers, etc. But don’t just take my word for it, check out the Department of Energy’s website here.

    At some point, I heard a spare tire and tow hitch would be an option, can you confirm and what other options would be available?

      Andy: As of now we are providing a tire inflator kit, which has become the standard with most other EVs on the market today. The tow hitch will be an option in future models other than the City Edition! 😀

    With the shorter range of the CE, is the expected range of the regular VF8 Eco or Plus expected to change?

      Andy: We are always looking to better optimize our vehicles through OTA updates. Range is one of the things that we always look to improve. “Expected range” is difficult to describe as various countries employ different testing and range standards. For example, WLPT is primarily used in Europe, while the EPA is standard here in North America. While WLTP testing is considered to be more representative of real-world driving conditions and provides more accurate fuel economy and emissions data compared to EPA testing, EPA testing provides a standardized, repeatable testing process that can be used to compare the fuel efficiency and emissions of different cars. We do anticipate some changes to mileage, and will provide an update on any changes.

    Can you share information about subscription services, types offered and their cost?

      Andy: Some of this is still being finalized, but most everything will be included in the base price of the vehicle. The Smart Services which are a part of a subscription are just things that use data, such as real time traffic in our navigation software, as well as more audio and video options for streaming services. More will be shared on this soon but remember if you have a VinFirst reservation these services are included for the life of your vehicle or duration of your lease. If you do subscribe, it’s currently priced at around $9.90 per month for our Smart Services Level 1 subscription.

    I was told by a Vinfast rep In Santa Monica that if a car would need to be serviced longer than 5 hours, a loaner car would be offered. Can you offer more details?

      Andy: We are working to finalize that specific item. That said, I am confident that our service offerings will be among the best in the industry. We have a dedicated team ready to respond to any issues that might arise. We have Digital Service Advisors that can fix software issues over the air, we have mobile service vans to come out to you should certain types of issues arise, we aim to bring as much service to you in your driveway as much as possible. We are exploring multiple alternate transportation solutions, aimed to best support our individual customer needs.
