    It’s time for our first-ever “Ask Me (Almost) Anything” session! This week, we’re giving you the chance to go behind-the-scenes with Andy Steinhauser, the Inside Sales Manager at VinFast North America. We will be collecting questions from community members in advance and will provide answers to some of your questions on Thursday, February 16.

    Writes Andy: “Hey everyone! I’m Andy Steinhauser, the Inside Sales Manager at VinFast North America. I’m excited to be here and chat with all of you about our brand, our exciting new VF 8 City Edition, and anything else you’re curious about.

    Before joining VinFast, I spent years traveling the world and working as a professional spokesperson for numerous companies on the world’s largest automotive stages. When I’m not at work, I love hiking, exploring local LA hot spots and hitting the beach with my family. So, whether you’re curious about the auto industry or just want to chat, ask me almost anything!”

    VinFast community members are invited to post questions for Andy on this thread about the VF 8 City Edition by sunset (your time) on Wednesday, February 15. To ensure we make optimal use of Andy’s time, we’ll review and select the very best!

    Then, on Thursday, February 16, Andy will review your questions and address as many as he can over the course of the day. You’re invited to tune in to his responses — and post follow-ups, as well!

    I would like to know how a Vinfirst like myself can still get all the benefit reserved for “Vinfirsts” by leasing a VF8 City Edition?!

      Andy: YES, absolutely, you get all your benefits with the City Edition. Our current offer online is for all reservation holders, VinFirst reservation holders will be able to take advantage of extra discounts on top of the current offer. California residents who are VinFirst reservation holders may take advantage of the City Edition Leasing offer and claim all benefits as part of the VinFirst Pioneer program.

      Andy: Great question! We know many of our reservation holders are excited about the VF 9. As of now, our VF 9s are scheduled to arrive in Q2, we will be reaching out to all VF 9 reservation holders to fill orders according to reservation timeline. 😀

    Do you expect the range for the city edition to continue to increase via over the air updates like it did before?

    When can we realistically expect Vf8 Plus with extended range battery and 21” tires be available?

      Andy: Great question and we are all anxiously awaiting the arrival of the standard VF 8 with 21” tires in the US and Canada. We are working hard to deliver this vehicle and are still targeting an arrival date of late Q1 / early Q2 and we still hope to make that timeline. That said, VinFast will not deliver a vehicle that isn’t up to our high standards of quality, fit and finish, drivability or smart service options, so stay tuned… We will update the community and issue press releases as we get more definitive timing.

      Andy: We will have service centers to support our clients in both Northern California and Southern California and a mobile service fleet. We will announce dates and times once we finalize the details!

    I was told by a Vinfast rep In Santa Monica that if a car would need to be serviced longer than 5 hours, a loaner car would be offered. Can you offer more details?

      Andy: We are working to finalize that specific item. That said, I am confident that our service offerings will be among the best in the industry. We have a dedicated team ready to respond to any issues that might arise. We have Digital Service Advisors that can fix software issues over the air, we have mobile service vans to come out to you should certain types of issues arise, we aim to bring as much service to you in your driveway as much as possible. We are exploring multiple alternate transportation solutions, aimed to best support our individual customer needs.

    Can you share information about subscription services, types offered and their cost?

      Andy: Some of this is still being finalized, but most everything will be included in the base price of the vehicle. The Smart Services which are a part of a subscription are just things that use data, such as real time traffic in our navigation software, as well as more audio and video options for streaming services. More will be shared on this soon but remember if you have a VinFirst reservation these services are included for the life of your vehicle or duration of your lease. If you do subscribe, it’s currently priced at around $9.90 per month for our Smart Services Level 1 subscription.

    With the shorter range of the CE, is the expected range of the regular VF8 Eco or Plus expected to change?

      Andy: We are always looking to better optimize our vehicles through OTA updates. Range is one of the things that we always look to improve. “Expected range” is difficult to describe as various countries employ different testing and range standards. For example, WLPT is primarily used in Europe, while the EPA is standard here in North America. While WLTP testing is considered to be more representative of real-world driving conditions and provides more accurate fuel economy and emissions data compared to EPA testing, EPA testing provides a standardized, repeatable testing process that can be used to compare the fuel efficiency and emissions of different cars. We do anticipate some changes to mileage, and will provide an update on any changes.

    At some point, I heard a spare tire and tow hitch would be an option, can you confirm and what other options would be available?

      Andy: As of now we are providing a tire inflator kit, which has become the standard with most other EVs on the market today. The tow hitch will be an option in future models other than the City Edition! 😀

        Hello I was looking into purchasing a tow hitch and roof rack for the VF8 non-City edition, do you know when this will be available?
