Hopefully they will just give those who converted to an order the $7500 when at time of order it makes no sense to have everyone file taxes get denied then come back to Vinfast. The cars clearly don’t qualify so why extend the process.

I agree I hope it is a price reduction. As a Vinfirst reservation holder I doubt we will get an additional discount although that would be great considering all the recent bad press for the CE. However I’m scared because it says promotion that could mean anything like another free vacation that I will never use 😅. The Blazer EV is looking nice so hopefully Vinfast gets there act together. I almost pulled the trigger on a model Y but I need an opening sunroof so if the VF8 falls through then likely will get a Blazer EV or EV6.

I bet you its a legal thing, it was always a wonder to me how the insurance was going to work. If an accident does happen it would likely be hard for the insurance company to give a valuation of the vehicle. I would think a car without a battery would have minimal value just like an ICE without its engine. I could imagine the back a forth the insurance company and Vinfast would have, the insurance company would not want to fix a car when the battery doesn’t belong to there insured or they would ask Vinfast to remove the battery before they would fix and I’m sure Vinfast wouldn’t want to replace a battery everytime there is a fender bender. It could also be that they just want to wait until the version 2 batteries are ready for showtime. If they are getting rid of the battery subscription they better not try to tack on 15k for the battery there is a big differance between 48k and 63k. I could see paying an extra 5k but anything over that I’ll just get an EV6.

Wow just another example of no communication from Vinfast. One of the perks was customer service excellence (not that customer service should be a perk it should just happen) communication is part of customer service. The change in leather is not a big deal to me I actually prefer Vegan leather but just making changes without communication is not a good customer experience. I’m losing more and more faith in Vinfast by the day. Sad because I was so hyped about the cars.

If that response is correct It would appear that the standard battery just didn’t do well in EPA testing and so they called it a city edition it may need to go through some software tweaks to get better range. This is what happens when rushing to get a car out.

Yes, I also got that email. It looks like the same exact email. The order link wasn’t working on my first email but does on the second one maybe that what changed. It could be they are just hoping that someone will bite. The news release from today does say that range would be increased by end of Jan

It could be possible they are using the same testing regime as the VW group those cars usually exceed EPA. However if you read the fine print it states range is based on a simulation and has not been EPA tested meaning after EPA real world could be 140-150 good for daily but not for weekend trips I should be able to drive my 60k plus car without worry

Yes I got the same email as well. I’m not sure what they are doing with there pricing scheme. This city edition is a complete failure at this price. I’m not even sure how they are getting 180 miles if all the cars have a 87 kWh battery if 84 is usable eff would be around 2.1-2.2 which for a modern EV is unforgivable

Vinfast has a direct to consumer model. Trade ins will be welcomed.

I believe it’s more of a software/firmware issue. It is quite a serious issue as it appears that the vehicle is becoming unresponsive in the middle of the street. This could be a disaster in the middle of rush hour traffic. Hopefully it’s an easy fix and they can send OTA to fix. They certainly shouldn’t release cars to customers in the US until they are sure they have figured this out.
