What I’ll require to stick with VinFast, how about you?

Requirements that I believe you’ll need for most of us early adopters in the US to stick with VinFast VF8 rather than going with Tesla Model Y, Chevy Equinox EV, or other manufacturer.
Financing option of 3.5% or better.
Significantly improved pricing. I believe you’ll need to be minimum 12% below Tesla Model Y pricing (approximately ($6,500) and maybe as high as 20% ($10,800).
Other VinFirst adopters please add additional thoughts or commentary.

As a pioneer, I was told by Vinfast via email I would receive the car under the original terms including subscription pricing which I am fine with. If they lowered the cost with battery inclusive, that would be a plus.
My 2 biggest concerns are getting a decent test drive and the car receiving a 5*safety rating. Vinfast hasn’t make it easy to schedule test drives and I’m not talking about a short test drives offered at car shows. I’ve reach out to Vinfast for months now asking when the safety ratings would be out and all I receive is “they will be published soon”. I’ve been losing trust with Vinfast as they lack their promised communication with their members and they haven’t been transparent with changes over the past year. At this point my biggest reason for hanging on to hope is their 10 yr bumper to bumper warranty. I’m hoping materials and workmanship will be covered as I’ve heard on videos that some parts of the interior feel cheap plus they changed the plus from leather seats to Vegan leather, which aren’t as durable. I’ve reached out to Vinfast inquiring if the seats are covered should they fall apart during the warranty period and have yet to receive a straight answer. Would welcome any feedback from Vinfast.

Hello Gabriel, thank you for being a valued VinFirst pioneer and Community Member! I can confirm as that the listed prices at the time you placed your reservation will be honored once the time comes to configure your VF8. I want to again thank you for your patience while we prepare for this information for release in regards to test drives and our safety rating. I have provided your information to the showroom nearest to you so they may reach out once test drives are available. By that time we can hope to also share our safety rating however that is not an official timeline. Regarding interior materials and workmanship, we stand by our product and will address manufacturer defects as concerns are experienced. On a side note my personal vehicle has 56,000miles and the vegan leather seats, both surface area and stitching look good as new outside of natural creasing!

Thank you so much for responding and clearing this up.
Regarding test drives, I did sign up at a showroom about 5 months ago and at the LA Auto Show but never received any call or update when the first drives were offered.

There is an article on Reuters this morning about Vinfast is contemplating on price-cut promotions to counter Tesla’s recent price cuts of its model Y and 3 vehicles.

Their is no conteplating they will need to reduce the prices to compete with Tesla. As I am getting close to Tesla myself with the charging network and the range for price is not bad at all.

I hope the Reuters report will be true. I myself am looking at Tesla and Blazer at the moment but again continue to hold out to see how Vinfast would treat the early reservation holders who have placed the trust in Vinfast from the get-go.

We are doing a second test drive of the VF8 this Friday. I hope they have more information this time. I would also like to see the list of benefits we were promised way back when we placed our reservation. I haven’t been able to find that anywhere. Does anybody have that list? The reservation form they sent is very generic without much information on it.

It would be nice to start with communication on our reservations. None so far. Pricing has changed as well as the battery option. What will we really end up with? Or be offered? Of course the whole mileage issue is of concern and we will see how that pans out. With Tesla dropping prices, it is looking a lot better as an option. So will VinFast offer insurance and some amount of included charging?

What started out back in early 2021 when VinFast first was being introduced, has completed changed from the initial specs, hype and features. Not only is the constant price adjustments causing a lot anxiety amount the early adopters, the missed delivery dates reminds me of the chicken little screaming the sky is falling. I won’t believe it until they actually tell me my VF8 is on the ground and I can touch and feel it!
Even then, depending on how they structure the lease or buy package, it’s going to require a lot of financial analysis. If they offer a viable lease option, the real question is going to be how they set the residual value on the car and if it falls short, who is going to take the financial hit? This car has no used car market experience in the US. It could go the way of the Yugo and just become a door stop after it has been crushed.
It seems like every week another established manufacturer is introducing a new EV and/or EV-hybrid car which is equal to or more competitive than the current specs of the VF8. Just look at the new Acura EV or the Hyundai 6. Even Tesla is hurting and offering their new Y models at lower prices than VinFast is now telling us they will be offering.
To many choices coming onto the market and Vinfast will not be as an attractive a deal……..the longer they wait to bring in the big boy VF8, the more customers they will see go over the other side!
As I always like to say, “money talks and *** walks”……..

Based on current customer reviews, quality of VF8 so far is far below of Tesla Model Y. Tesla Model Y long range 330 miles – now selling at around 54K (on the top you get 7,500 tax credit if you get it deliver before March ’23. Can VinFast VF8 beat that price and comes within the price range (40k-45k) with battery? I doubt they do that. Also seeing slowly people loosing interest even in posting their views in this forum looking at the last two weeks updates. The major big mistake VinFast did is bringing 1000 CE vehicles of 170 miles range first to US, when people are expecting their VF8s getting delivered. I guess the management is totally clueless. Not sure how many of those CEs got leased or sold so far, or they are using them just demo purpose. @vinfast response appreciated.
Also they should not be doing test drive on that small distance laid out track. It looks like a driving test rather than test drive. Going at 20, 30 miles for less than 5 minutes – who will get any good impression?

Check Tom Peng’s explanation of the City Edition on YouTube, posted a few hours ago. According to him, the CE is exactly the same as the VF8s delivered in VN. It might have “failed” the EPA Range test due to software’s not optimized. His own test showed the 3 driving modes’ being very similar which is not right. The ECO mode should have a much longer range than the SPORT and the other mode. With software tweaks, the ECO mode might be very close to the advertised range. That’s why VinFast said that the range might be adjusted around end of January! If this is true, EPA Range wouldn’t be a problem soon..

I want to place a customizable order for my VF 9 by the beginning of spring (nlt 31 March 2023), with pickup or delivery by the beginning of summer (nlt 30 June 2023). If I can’t place an order by then, I’m probably going to move on a reserve another vehicle.
The real appeal for me was a three-row EV at a good price point with three years of free fueling. But there are others at that same price point or lower that bring legacy OEM experience to the mix (see Kia EV 9), not to mention US-built for tax credit purposes (see Volvo EX90).
I got in early, so it’s still a great bargain and I’d be a happy and proud evangelist. But the longer they wait to deliver vehicles, the more other options become attractive.
