Vinfast VF8 ECO Feedback/Issue Report
Hey all,
I’ve had my 2025 VF8 ECO for about a month now and wanted to bring a few things up for feedback.
1. Left Turn Signal: When I attempt to do a quick tap of the turn signal lever (for left turn, three blinks then stop), it does not register on the first and so etines the second attempt. This occurs about 50% of the time and attempt is made. When it does occur, it causes the lane keep assist to trigger because it thinks I am drifting into the left lane. (Not always able to hear if the signal activated when music is playing)
(Note: the continuous left turn signal works all the time, only having issues with the three blinks left turn)
2. Ambient lighting (blind spot indication): Let me start by saying the ambient lighting is really nice and the color choice is great. To me, that experience is ruined by using the ambient light as a blind spot warning visual (flashing yellow as a car approaches). It would be nice to have an option to disable the blind spot flashing in the ambient lighting while keeping the warning on the HUD and infotainment system.
3. Throttle Response/Regen Braking: this is not a new topic, but I figured I would toss this in too. Just wondering if there is an update in the works to make the throttle more responsive to the input at launch instead of having that 1 second lag. For the Regen, I think the Low Setting is fine where it is. Feels like driving an ICE car. The medium and high could use some work on the response curve, feels like it needs more transition time so the ride feels smoother. My wife felt like she was getting sick with how much the car felt like it was jerking on medium and high Regen. Also, it would be nice if the car came to a complete stop without pressing the breaks on high and medium Regen. The regenerative currently stops when the car reaches about 4 or 5 mph and it takes some effort to smoothly transition to a stop this way.
(Note: My car before this one was a Polestar 2, which I would say had really good throttle response and good high Regen curve. I will say the low Regen of the VF8 is better though.)
4. Suspension: I think the car handles pretty well, but that rear suspension feels too bouncy. May want to us a stiffer suspension in the back on the next iteration.
To Vinfast: are there any updates in the works to resolve/refine these things I mentioned? Are these issues that warrants a trip back to the dealership?
To other Owners: what has your experience been like with these items and other common issues? Have visits to the shop helped or is waiting for the next major update the only way forward here?
Overall, the car is not bad. Definitely better than the original reviews. Could just use some fine tuning.
