Hi, I am going to keep track of my VF8 experience from ordering and to day to day. (FYI I AM LEASING AS OPERATING COST OF THIS CAR IS CHEAPER THAN PREVIOUS CAR THAT DIED ON ME)

So far I have not yet received the vehicle or gotten a call of estimated delivery. I ordered (02/25) and after calling and waiting on the status bar in the vinfast.us website, I got a date of (03/12) delivery. This does not seem bad to me at all, some people probably want an update for the car but this is my experience is if you do not ask yourself you may not find out until delivery.

    Steps to order:

    1.) $200 order

    2.)Credit Application

3.) Waiting period (Currently where I am at)

    VF8 Lease or Buy?

    • Lease because of great deal

Update: Received the car a little earlier.

Picked it up at night (took 1.5hours since we were waiting for the “person” to email it to me but paperwork took about 15mins (yes I read it)).

    Initial thoughts:

Car is fairly large (comparable probably to CRV slightly more roomy) and has wireless Apple car play.

The ride is good if you are coming from an older car like myself. Most comparable ride quality is similar to a 2015-2020 Hyundai. Con is you do feel the road a lot but I used to drive a lowered car on coilovers and still this rides better (2003 Acura RSX type s if you’re wondering) with just the road feel.

Steering is good to me idk what everyone complains about it’s a good deal (if you’re leasing).

Parking cameras are boo boo especially at night. I can deal with the grain (mainly prevalent at night) but it seems laggy and delayed and not in real time. I’ve bought back up cameras on Amazon for $50 and they’re more responsive. But the 360 camera seems to be more “real time” with less to no delay.

Sensors for blind spot works but I personally never trust them in any car but it’s a good “feature”.

My only real complaint is the foot well. The space above the pedals is too low. When first driving my foot would get stuck when switching between the two pedals. Kind of scary if you don’t realize it since this does not have “i-pedal”. Braking to a stop was hard to get used to so first timers be weary of this. If it was raised higher it would be ideal car to be honest. I got used to it by setting my seat a certain way (further and lower than usual). I’m size 9 shoe btw.

Convenience Thought: Drove it to work and easy to use. Hopefully charger can be implemented on both sides or some other way since since it would make charging spots accessible. (I like the niro Ev 2023 location).

    Current mileage:

-picked up @24miles; NOW AT 125miles

    Spark notes:

Good all around car, drives good but has road noise and feel, and foot well is too low for pedals.

      UPDATE: 04.28.2024

It has been not even been a whole half year of owning the car.

Here are further issues I have run into:

      -Audio issue from speakers

      -Settings not saving

-Hearing some spring bind I believe when driving at times over bumps or up driveways

      -Charging issues premature stopping

      -Black screen of death (04.28.2024)

-Hoping this can be fully fixed but definitely not something you want driving a car…

      -Wireless charging fault alerts

      -Steering Wheel buttons stopped working

Experience definitely down the drain… I was giving the benefit of the doubt with the speakers and settings not saving being whatever. But the charging and the black screen is a BIIIIGGG ISSUE! Thought they fixed it with the software… guess not (version FRS9.6.1.10)

      GG Vinfast.

Yes! A lot of reviewers did not bring this up which is weird and I feel is common.. I had my brother try it and it happens to him too. But I guess we can get used to it! Did you buy/lease the vehicle?

leased it. I made a very poor decision. VF8 is plagued by number of other issues as well which Vinfast is not going to address soon. Plus high insurance costs does not justify lease cost.

If you think insurance is high wait until the registration renewal. Lol In CA it is around $722 for San diego

Ouch, for this car I do not see the benefit. Glad I leased it instead. Lol. Time to tough it out. Though, I wish I waited the Toyota Bz4x is going for $139 until end of the month (2days) but I needed a car 🙁

I am up in the Bay area and my DMV renewal is 760. Has anyone with the lease forward program received any information regarding their next model?

I got my lease forward car on April 19. My original purchase date of CE was March 30 or around that time. If you know you are going to do lease forward then do not pay registration. VinFast will contact you about a month or so before the year is up. If you want to do the lease forward they will order a car for you and in about a month you will be able to pick it up with no cost to you unless you have excessive wear and tear. Also when doing lease forward option you will have to get a 2 year lease on the new car so you own VF8 for total of 3 years.

Ps San Diego registration was 711 so that is what I will have to pay in 2025 to renew for last year.
