“It will be improved with a software update and the new range is expected to be announced by the end of January 2023.”

If they could squeeze another 40 miles that would be crazy impressive and make it competitive against some others in that segment, but just another 20 would be appreciated

I was thinking the same thing that once they increase the range it will be not City Edition but Highway/Interstate Edition lol.

Seems they are getting a lot of negative feedback from their Test Drive Events and Press about the City Edition range and that people are not getting them as they thought. So now they are pressed to get better efficiency to increase the range. I mean it is an 83 or 87kw battery pack so that should be able to handle at least about 230 miles EPA minimum.

I think if Vinfast had just been honest with at least reservation holders the mess they have now would be less.

Not sure what you meant by that?! What ‘dishonesty’ are you talking about?! I am a Vinfirst but I haven’t felt that I was lied to anywhere! My reserved version is not here, simple as that. I have an opportunity to buy a different version with less range but taking it or not is my choice completely. VinFast is not forcing me in anyway..

You can be dishonest and not actually be ‘lying’ a word I didn’t use, btw. One of the ‘perks’ vinfast said came with being a vinfirst(er) is we’d get, in advance, communication ie before journalists or we stumbled across on the website. That has not happened……..at all….so far.

Look at the facts: they knew before November that the first 999 would not be even close to what they said were the ‘targets’. Not even in the ballpark. In fact, they knew shortly after producing the first of the 999. What did they decide to do? Send an email about an offer to buy a trim we had not heard of and to this day is not on the website. And, btw, range might be 180 (on this they were close they are 179). AND we decided to remove the battery lease, but here’s a few grand off a price that is high for a 179 mile range vehicle.

I call that being dishonest and ‘hiding’ the details. What could have been the right way? Telling us the before they shipped; explaining why the battery lease was not available. Simple. Now they have a PR mess.

Don’t get me wrong I’m sticking with my reservation turned to order. The overall deal is still hard to beat by competitors. Longer I wait, is the longer I don’t have a car payment. Another benefit. BUT the communication has to improve to avoid future PR whoopes.

Well, let’s just say Vinfast hasn’t been very transparent. I was told many things early on that never materialized.

Initially, we were told reserved VF8’s would start arriving sometime in Nov. but in late Nov., cars were shipped but not the type of cars Vinfast Pioneers reserved. They replaced them with a “City Edition” with short range. In the summer, I was told test drives would begin late summer or early fall, but it never happened. In the Vinfast showroom, I signed up to be notified and scheduled for a test drive but never received a call, months later I received an email(which ended up in my span box) asking me to schedule a drive using a link but no test drives were available on the weekend. In the summer, I was also told Safety rating would be out soon but now, “City Edition” is in CA and still no Safety Rating. Cost for the VF8’s have gone up twice, battery lease prices has gone up and now I’m hearing we’ll have to pay extra for certain exterior and interior colors. Information is not being sent to Vinfast Pioneers. Many items from the website have been removed such as VF8 specification sheets and were never replaced. My initial excitement with Vinfast early this year is fading. I had high hope for this brand and had looked forward to buying stock.Well, let’s just say Vinfast hasn’t been very transparent.
