Wow just another example of no communication from Vinfast. One of the perks was customer service excellence (not that customer service should be a perk it should just happen) communication is part of customer service. The change in leather is not a big deal to me I actually prefer Vegan leather but just making changes without communication is not a good customer experience. I’m losing more and more faith in Vinfast by the day. Sad because I was so hyped about the cars.

It seems the ‘perk’ of getting communications ‘first’ as a vinfirst pioneer was a hoax. 😶

We don’t know this change is for sure so I would hold the judgment on that..

pretty sure you missed my point. Vinfast has not communicated with vinfirst pioneers as promised. Period.

As to the leather choice: I don’t care either way as long as a leather option is available (over cloth).

there was a survey on the leather options a ways back: don’t recall how I answered…..Hum.

Thank you for your feedback and we appreciate your concern. We apologize for the lack of communication and will do our best to improve your customer experience in the future. As for the change regarding vegan leather, we are seeking to use sustainable business practices and vegan leather absorbs less carbon.

Regarding: “vegan leather absorbs less carbon”… Hm, don’t we want the opposite for the environment???

vegan leather is a form of polyvinyl, harder to biodegrade, which has a greater impact on the environment. It is a byproduct of petrol, which is not a sustainable, and produce more carbon.

As long as the look and feel are not like leatherette (high grade nylon) it really doesn’t bother me. I think the BMW leather material is of the same.

I was totally frustrated with this too as their spec sheet on their website months ago showed the plus as having leather seats. Over the last few days, I’ve reached out to VinFast and asked about this and was told the plus will have vegan leather so I followed up with an email asking for more info on the vegan leather. My concern is with the lower quality material and whether VinFast will replace the seats within the bumper to bumper warranty if they start to fall apart or material starts peeling? Replacing leather seats with cheaper material and not adjusting price or giving notice is bad customer service. Not a great way to start business in the US.

The whole idea of switching from real leather to vegan leather isn’t the cost. It is for “sustainability” that VinFast is trying to project its image on. The cars still carry 10 year/125 K mile “bumper to bumper” warranty so real leather or vegan leather, I wouldn’t worry about it. Just be glad for the animals that would have died if their leather were used to make these seats!

I understand what you’re saying but original pricing was based on real leather not fake leather. I understand the Sustainability” issue but when you promote your product with certain materials and than change it with no notice like many other issues they’ve changed, I call it misleading. I think I may be fine with Vegan Leather if the quality was there and Vinfast would warrant the materials to last within the bumper to bumper warranty but I’ve reached out twice to Vinfast reps and have yet to receive a straight answer to my question. I don’t think it fair to substitute a cheaper material only to have it fall apart 6 -10 years later only to have Vinfast tell it me it wasn’t covered under the warranty. I welcome clarification from a Vinfast rep to comment on this issue and confirm Vegan Leather seats would be covered under the warranty.

The whole idea of switching from real leather to vegan leather is all about the bottom line. Real leather will always cost more than vegan leather. Vinfast is projecting a premium car by promising real leather to sustainable vegan leather. No so premium anymore. “sustainability” is a marking terminology. Vegan is petroleum based. Anyone ever wondered what happens when it ends up in the landfill? Vegan will discolor/degrade faster than leather when in contact with hand lotion, sanitizer, hair spray, perfume, sunscreen etc. I have both vegan and real leather shoes Can you guess which one cracked and peeled within a year? No worries, every part of that cow was put to good use.

You brought up the point of bottom line makes more sense than the sustainability claim.
