Price increase again?
40 VF PointsMember12/26/2022 at 14:21I noticed that both VF8 & VF9 have been listed at higher starting prices. I hope this is just an error, or that’s going to be next to impossible to sell these at those prices 59k and 83k respectively. I think this is the second or third time it’s increased.

the latest increase, but not new. If you have a reservation, the price quoted to you back then would still be valid….I think. Might depend on when you reserved.
What is more concerning they no longer really even show the battery subscription ‘price’ of the vehicle anymore and barely mention the option unless one looks.

A call to VinFast from a few if “Vinfirsts” who reserved their VF8s and VF8s from day 1 was confirmed that the battery lease program remains unchanged. After all, it was the uniquely offered by VinFast to entice ICE drivers to switch to EVs without spending a fortune..

The way they are increasing the price without even selling their first car, not sure if they even honor our early reservation price and benefits they promised by the time they start delivering VF9, which might happen end of 2023 or early 2024. I am not sure if they deliver me vehicle until their NC plant start producing VF9.

Well, Vinfast said they would honor vehicle price and monthly battery subscription fee. I certainly will hold them to it.

I will hold them to it as well. Even though I placed an order for a Model 3 just last week I am still holding on to my VF8 reservation just because I will still have the lower pricing and Battery Subsciption service for $110 a month. Plus if i can hold out until 2024 to take delivery will get the $3750 POS rebate as I did not convert to an order as I did not have the tax liability to get all $7500 anyways.
Remember Pioneers in 2024 Vinfast will have a NA factory making cars and Batteries. It will just matter on the battery minerals from that point on.

Me too will hold it and see, since my battery subscription price is $140 per month at the time of booking and hope they honor all the additional promises they made with the signed contract.

@Ramakrishna – is your $140/month subscription price for VF9? When did you put in your reservation? Mine was in Feb 2022 and they said my monthly subscription is $160/month for VF9.

$110 for VF8 & $140 for VF9 as far as I remember. Now they removed all your reservation details and initial offer details removed from their web site. We can’t even check what they offered / promised us at the time of signing.
People who drove car vf8 plus saying some of the interior material is cheap plastic under the hood (trunk & frunk & charging port covers etc.,), getting doubt if it comes under a premium car worth buying at 60k & 80k
Want to see what VinFast has to say in this regard.

Same on pricing. I was told by multiple Vin employees price is locked, as well as battery subscription.

So many price changes and option, anyone has screenshots of oiginal pricing? Don’t think its included in our reservation emails, hope vinfast can put it in our reservation page based on date of reservation.

I made the mistake of not screen shooting the info. I did write it down, tho. And did confirm with vinfast all that info remains locked regardless of later changes. Will vinfast honor that? Time will tell.
Our reservations include the model/date etc and that is about it. In fact, mine says refundable even tho I converted to an order. Oh well.

The original pricing was $40700 with battery subscription of $110 month unlisted miles for VF8. Now not sure if that was including tax credit or not but that should be starting price locked in on VF8 Eco no additions.

most definitely not including the fed tax credit. VF8 Plus is $48,900 incl delivery charge.

Guys who drove the car at night, said the cameras quality is terrible at night & Display touch screen is too clumsy with cheap quality icons too many colors etc., I am not sure if VinFast people are reading and considering the customer opinions. Hope they don’t bring half cooked cars into US as high prices. It will be very bad for them if they don’t consider pricing and quality again.

Im hoping they keep honored price as well, 47,700, for early reservations. With the $110 for battery subscription. Then I’m still in. Just saw Tesla model Y is offering $7500 EV tax credit for deliveries before March 2023

Especially since Tesla drastically cut prices this week… I think you can get a Model Y for mid 50’s. 330+ mile range, and qualifies for the $7500 rebate in the US (I think, not a tax professional). That brings the effective price to the high $40’s for better range, a nationwide charging and repair network, and immediate availability. Very few people are going to pay $10k more for a VinFast with lower range, higher 0-60 time, less refined features, and no network outside of California. I really hope VinFast realizes the VF6-8’s, have a ton of competition, and their uniqueness to most buyers lies in the VF9. (even that price is too high, but it’s at least reasonable as there isn’t a real economy 3 row EV)

Vinfast should avoid/lower the $80k range, otherwise it will not qualify for tax incentive, even if it made in US.

Hello Sea Talluri, we can confirm due to rising global material cost and inflation we have increased our pricing for both VF8 and VF9 Models. You are locked in at the pricing posted at the time you created your reservation.

Thanks for confirming price is locked when vehicle is reserved. What about a battery subscription? we still get as promised.

Hello Naresh Ravuri! Regarding battery subscription, we have decided to hold off on providing this service as we are still in the process of figuring out the logistics for it. What this means for the pricing is that if by the time the vehicle is available for purchase and the battery subscription is available, you will get the price quoted at the time of your reservation. If your car becomes available with the battery included, the price at that time will be applied.
I hope this clarifies any confusion you may have. Feel free to contact us if you have any further questions!

To VF moderator,
I think what others are asking is “will the subscription be available when the 2nd batch arrives and are ready for sale to pioneers?” This “subscription logistics” has been ongoing for months now and from what I’ve been told, it has to do with US Bank and VF. We not trying to be a pain, just looking for straight answers. How many months does it take to work this out? This should have been worked out before the end of 2022 when deliveries were initially expected to start.
I would imagine a lot of pioneers can’t afford the upfront cost of the battery and were relying on the subscription model. This upfront cost adds more money to the cost of the car due to higher sales tax plus higher car payment due to a higher loan amount with high interest rates. I’m just thinking VF will lose sales if they don’t get it right. As it is, Tesla model Y is looking really good priced at $46,990, battery inclusive plus it qualifies for the 7.5K fed credit. I want VF to succeed and still hoping for a VF8 but VF needs to make changes, update their software, eliminate some of the issues customers are having and make the pricing competitive. If they can’t competitively sell their cars, they will end up with unsold cars with very limited revenue coming in. Just my thoughts.
