0 VF PointsMember12/13/2022 at 07:13Hi, what is the model/battery type that you reserved/want to get?
For me it’s the VF9 extended range

This poll, as unscientific as it is, offers a lot of anecdotal evidence as to why OEMs are making long range batteries and AWD first, and single motor short range batteries second.
Take note Vinfast

All Vinfast trims have dual motors standard. Well, those coming to US. And bigger battery option is coming later this year, not first.

That’s mostly Tesla. Most traditional OEMs are putting larger packs and single motor for longer range and dual for better performance. In both cases compromises are made; dual motor tends to decrease range but better in snow, off road, etc; single motor offers less performance but longer range. The easier route with battery constraints is to put out a single motor low performance model then offer dual motor. Perfect example is the Cadillac Lyric. Vinfast chose to only start with Dual motor for the broadest of applications (also bad road infrastucture in Vietnam) though it will sacrifice range. It’s a business decision and I can respect them giving what their local market wants.

Or Vinfast I’d offering a lux model for less than the competition? Instead of an ‘option’ it comes with base price.
That and the battery subscription option makes Vinfast quite different and compelling. Got my attention. 👍🏻

Still 0 votes for the “City Edition”. I’m curious if VF will actually be able to sell them all 999.

I don’t think many will be sold. They will be rentals or used as test drive units for the showrooms. Most reservations holders are not. going for it.

I’m taking a flier on the City Edition but originally I’m a day one Jan 6 VF-9 extended edition. EPA of 180 isn’t as big of a concern as long as battery size is same (87kwhr) 82 usable as Vietnam. Pricing is 49k (eco) after vinfirst vouchers and after CA rebate of 2k and 7.5k fed total should be 40k out the door.
All competitors
ID4 AWD 181″ 54k MSRP, 82 kwh
Nissan Ariya 182″ is 52k MSRP, 82 kwh
Toyota BZ4X 185″ 48K MSRP, 71kwh
Tesla model Y 187″ 61k, 75kwh; with 3750 incentive and 10k mile free supercharger bonus
Kia EV6 AWD 184″ 53K 77kwh
Ioniq 5 AWD 183″ 51K 77kWh
Ford mustang Mach E 186″ 50k 68kWh

There are quite a few alternatives to the VF8 from known brands but the VF9 – if they deliver at the original price – would be the only “affordable” full 3 row EV. That’s what got me looking.
