Ongoing Charging & System Issues with VF8 – Disappointed with the Experience

05/29/2025 at 11:10I’ve been using the VinFast VF8 for more than 16 months , I have installed JuiceBox 40 Amp Level 2 home charger directly to circuit breaker. Unfortunately, my experience has been far from smooth, and I feel compelled to share it in hopes of finding support or solutions.
1. Charging Reliability Issues:
The most frustrating problem is with charging. The VF8 often stops charging automatically after only a 3–5% increase in battery level. I’ve had to reconnect the charger adapter 3–4 times overnight, almost every time I charge — leading to several sleepless nights. Despite a recent service visit to VinFast, the issue recurred the same day. I’ve tested the same JuiceBox charger with a Tesla, and it worked flawlessly. This strongly points to a compatibility or internal issue with the VF8, and it’s disappointing that there doesn’t seem to be a proper fix yet.2. Tire Sensor & Lane Keep Issues:
On highway drives (30–40 miles), the tire sensors frequently report high pressure and temperature warnings. Simultaneously, the lane keeping assist system disengages, forcing manual control. This happens far too often and raises concerns about system reliability.3. Frequent System Errors:
Almost every time I start the car, I see at least two different or similar error messages pop up on the screen. One common example is “Airbag System Fault.” These types of errors are concerning — especially when they involve critical safety systems.I really wanted to enjoy this car and be a proud early adopter of VinFast’s EVs, but the constant issues have made ownership stressful. I’m hoping to hear from others with similar experiences or any updates from VinFast regarding real solutions.

I purchased two L2chargers , pay installation two times and I still can’t charge my car. I have multiple light on in my dashboard and the worst is the customer service from the service department in LISLE IL . very disappointing and frustrating experience

Not to worry – they dont have much time left here in the USA.

Considering VF has “thrown in the towel” on the USA – I am looking forward to October 1st 2025, when the Federal credits end – We should see not long after VF – Take the next step and do a full pull out of the USA. Its really sad, because having 2 vf8’s I have really enjoyed them, very few issues, and none major. Hopefully they do well in Asia and India and in 2028 try to make a come back over here!

What happens if they completely pull out of the US?
I just started my lease a month ago 😅

Same as fisker going bankrupt last year. The bank.is responsible for.the vehicles, and they really dont want them. They will offer you the vehicles for 50% of the residual value, for example, a vf8 plus is worth about 22k today, so they will offer it to yiu for roughly 11k, you can say no, and they will take it back and resell it, or you can try to talk themndown to.like 7 or 8k… but be aware, you won’t have any further support and be responsible for your own work on it.

Hi Parmit, I also have pretty much the same issues.
What I have figured out with charging is that if you can reduce the charging speed to below 28A. That might have fewer problems with reconnecting.
For Tire pressure, the service center recommends that I maintain 36 front and 38 rear tires. Although Vinfast recommends 38 for the front and 41 for the back. (This way we don’t bother them with this issue)
I also have a rattle noise coming from the dashboard, which the service team never figured out where it is coming from.
Overall, not satisfied with the vehicle, but I’m stuck with it for 3 years.

What version of firmware are you running? open vinfast app – goto settings – Vech Software update – it will say FRS 8A.X.X.X

Yes, once awhile, the App don’t work, my husband was at Electrify (located at Walmart with 10 charging stations) this morning and VinFast App showed “none available”, so my husband drove B of A Bank and it has 4 stations (2 being used & 2 opened) the 2 opened were not able to charge, he waited the one station left & he was able to charge, but when other people drove in to the other 2 & they were able to charge ??? Sure don’t know what happened.
We have 2 VF8, our other VF8 (no free charging incentive) use the VinFast Charger at home, so far it has been good & quick & easy.
