Hi, folks: I am a new Vinfaster and a new member of this community. I need some advice. Since I do not currently have a 240 V receptacle, I am using the level 1 connector to charge my VF8 Plus and using it for the first time; as expected, it is a very slow process. I will be getting the level 2 receptacle next week. Has anyone used reimbursement/rebates/credits from your local power company to cover the charge of installing the 240 V outlet? Also, are you happy with VF provided home charger for charging the battery overnight? I have found a few home chargers on Amazon for under $500 with good reviews. Did anyone buy one of those units?

Dont waste your time with a level 1 charger! on a good day you will avg 1kw an hour – to charge from 20%-80% would take you 2.5 days! – Invest in a 40, 48, or 50 amp charger , get it directly wired into the breaker – bypass the wall outlet – if you use a wall outlet you will only be able to use 80% of the amps (example using a wall outlet with a 40 amp charger you will only be able to use 32 amps) – if you get a 40 amp charger have the electrican wire it directly into a 50amp breaker – if you get a 48 or 50amp charger have him wire directly into a 60amp breaker – if you get a 50amp you will avg 11kw hour – which means you will be able to charger from 20%-80% in just under 6 hours.

We purchased a charger, aka EVSE, way back in 2013. Outlets, similar to the ones we typically plug everything into, are limited to 50 A breaker and 40 A continuous output as Kurt kindly noted. If you received the home Level 2 charger then no need to purchase another one, again I also agree to have it hard wired, no outlet, to the panel. If you notice the 40 A is 80% of the max capacity of the circuit, and they are designed that way. At least off our ’24 VF 9 with current software, it derates the 40 A to 80% that, so 32 A is used. This might be why Aarya you notice on level 2 it still takes a long time. VinFast is making a significant change to their California dealer network as they are closing company owned showrooms, (and seems like service centers), and using “Repair Wise” to outsource service and setting up for a traditional dealer network. (Just received the email)!
