Clearly a big mistake. First being they didn’t communicate with the vinfirst reservation holders, They just dropped an email on us.

    second mistake: no battery lease.

Final mistake: much much less range than the ‘target’ they have on their website,

I agree here. I am not a VinFirst Reservation Holder but was going to be but waited too long. But the Limited range and not much of a discount only 3k off the sticker price and then if a VinFirst Holder the 3k voucher makes it only 6k off the sticker price which in return makes it not really worth the price.

THis like others could have mentioned could have been the batch for mostly Showrooms, Test Drives for showrooms, and Rental Car Agencies (Autonomy) as well already know they place an order for quite a few VF8. But I think they are testing ground to see if it is even worth it for those vehicles. I am sure they will get used or sold to the right buyer but not sure they will at the price they are offering. They would have to drastically drop the prices down to like maybe mid to high $30k for it to even probably sell. Because if they looking to make that version just a city car people can get the Nissan Leaf or Chevy Bolt both will like 250 miles of range for half the cost they are trying to sell the City Edition of the VF8.

Maybe these did well in Vietnam who knows or this was their plan after all to release a City Version first just to meet the end of year deadline. For the ones who do take them up on this offer may still get the 7500 tax credit that ends on 12/31/22.

I don’t think the tax credit ends on 12/31/22. Even if you get the delivery in 2023 (or later) as long as you had the binding agreement signed it should be fine. At least that’s what I understand

Vinfast employees need to chime in and answer. How much capacity of the battery VF City Edition carry? What is the difference between City Edition battery, Eco, Eco battery version 2, Plus, Plus battery version 2?

These should be simple answers for these question, but why are they clouding in mysteries?

As long as one converted to an order they will get the credit from IRS or Vinfast.

I wish they would’ve just released the regular vf8!

I think the problem is that there are no regular VF8s yet. My guess is they found themselves way off on battery efficiency and decided to build first, and figure out the rest later.

Let’s just hope the next batch of VF8s due in 1qt 2023 ARE the official trims we know about and they are very close to the ‘targets’. Not just range, but HP, 0-60 etc. Nobody wants a gutless wonder. 🙃

Hi there Sachin, while there is no physical battery pack upgrade or replacement. The vehicle will receive an over the air update slated to release by the end of January which will increase the range for the VF8 City Edition.

50K for UP TO 180 miles range will be a big NO for 99.99% of Interested buyers. I am sure. 30 to 35K may be a reasonable price in US, considering the brand that is not yet proven its name. Still I doubt. BTB, I booked for VF9 and waiting to see what all will change when I get a call.

I think reduced range would be ok if the price dropped to match.

I was told by a client advisor who called me no battery upgrade. Only option was to do a 2 year lease on the vehicle with inclusive battery. No option for a upgrade, or subscription on the battery.
