CE Specs/details
The below are the specs for the City edition per a rep from Vinfast via email. The specs seem as a mismash between the original eco and plus models
Battery Size = 87.7 kw
0-60 estimate 5.3 seconds
Horsepower = 349
EPA Range=180 EPA
AC charging rate level 1 (0-72 hrs) and level 2 charging ( 6 to 12 hrs)
DC charging rate level 3 “Industrial Grade only” 0 to 60 minutes charging time. This is the response I received regarding a battery upgrade. Seems as though this may by the end of January update
Question: Will it be possible to replace the battery of the city edition with a longer range battery when available, if so what will it cost.
Answer: Yes you can upgrade your battery range. We do not have the price for that at the moment. The VF8 City Edition only comes with one battery range at the moment.
To me everyone’s suspicion is true that they simply missed on EPA range. I think they didn’t offer the subscription because they don’t want to replace these batteries for the life of the vehicle. They should have just priced the CE Eco at 35k and the CE plus at 38k and took a write-off until the version 2 batteries are ready for showtime.
Does the above change your mind about the city edition

the 0-60 is the ‘target’ for the Plus trim. A target not matched with the press in Vietnam during their test drives; more like 6 seconds plus.
Think HP is still the target vs an actual as well.
I”m still a no. The battery subscription reduces the price by $15k. That is a huge thing to loose…..

Agree. Without battery subscription, the VF8 is expensive comparing to other known brands.

The range is too low. Especially when you figure that you should only charge it to 80%. I don’t see this as a viable option for anyone.

those who do the battery subscription would not be limited to the 80-90% charge like nearly all other EVs. Purpose of that is to the ‘save’ the battery. Once Vinfast goes to 70%, we would get a new battery…..In theory…

There is no more battery subscription plan, they got rid of it.

I can totally live with the City Edition but only if it’s on the battery lease program. The 2-yr lease plan is acceptable but 10K miles/year is too little for me!

For CE trim, yes. But it’s not gone completely (yet). It is hidden and we never see the price WITH the subscription any longer, which is annoying.
They are saying the subscription option has delayed roll out and any vehicle sold now won’t have it.
Gotta say, tho. If the sub goes all the way I’m out to a competitor. VF would simply be far far far too overpriced for an unknown maker.
