2000 Mile Review
When my VF8 Eco works like it is supposed to, it’s a good deal for the money. I chose to lease the Vinfast for a daily 40 mile round trip commute back and forth to work. I’m leasing the vehicle, 10,000 miles a year allowance. After $2,200 down added to monthly lease payment, actual cost is $352 a month for the 36 month lease for a total of $12,672 paid over 36 months and an optional $19,500 buyout at the end of lease (might be a few dollars off on payoff number). So, overall very inexpensive to lease but if purchasing this car, it’s more expensive than competitors who have much better fit and finish without all the glitches.
Excellent acceleration, typical firm and slightly rough ride similar to the way compact SUVs ride, average handling.
GLITCHY!
Sometimes when I get into the car, the radio starts blaring loudly through the driver door speaker but through no other speakers (have to hold down the reset button).
Sometimes safety features won’t work (lane keep, adaptive cruise etc). Holding the reset button sometimes doesn’t resolve this problem. It might fix itself the next time I drive the car but there have been times I had to disconnect the battery to fix it.
Stops charging before full charge. This happens EVERY TIME I CHARGE THE CAR! It didn’t happen with the 110v plug (but I drive too many miles daily to use 110v because it charges too slowly). When using 220v charger, Had to set car max charge setting at 25 on the charging screen in order to prolong charging but it still stops charging before full charge. I can typically charge around 30% before it just shuts off.
Some other gremlins here and there but tolerable.
I’m not tech savvy but it seems like the glitches in this car are firmware/software problems. I can’t understand how these persistent problems haven’t been ironed out with updates.
