Has anyone experienced charging issues? I was never able to charge using the issued level 1 charger. I just recently installed a level 2 charger. It worked 1 time, but now the on light turns yellow and it turns off. It’s very frustrating to say the least. I have an Autel MaxiCharge. I’m pretty sure they’re the same supplier for the VinFast level 2 charger.

Been having random charging issues also. Just got the car on the lease deal a few weeks ago. Can usually get it to charge level 2 at 30amps. But often disconnects and stops charging leaving the provided mobile charger with an orange light. Have unplug it and then replug it to car and it starts again. Usually will go ahead and charge to the 80-90%, but often have to go restart the charge 2-4 times before it finally just keeps going. Luckily the app normally drops notifications that charging completes well before I am expecting it to so I can go get the thing restarted…but becoming pretty annoying.

I had an issue using my juice box level 2 40amp charger. I could not get the vehicle to take more than 15 amps. I used the suppled charger with the 220 plug and it charged fine. Unfortunately after charging my VF8 had some issues.

The Vinfast Home charger is not working right when you charge at home. You should buy Autel home charger .

    They work perfect for me

I just received delivery on Sunday, 5/7. I tried charging for the first time last night using a level II charger that I know for certain works because I charged my wife’s EV earlier in the day and it charged just fine. I plugged in my level II charger at night and the battery was at 46%. The car charged over night. When I woke up today, I was shocked and upset to find that the car charged only 4% (it got to 50%) after 8 hours of charging. The 8 hours of level II charging should have fully charged the car. And, the Vinfast charge port light was flashing green when I plugged in, meaning there were no issues. Has anyone else experienced the same issue How? How am I supposed to use an EV car ( that I need to go to and from work!) that charges at this ridiculously slow rate?! I called customer service this morning and I was told the Service Center will call me to schedule a time to bring it in. So far, this has been a very bad first impression, Vinfast! I hope you turn it around quickly, or you won’t survive. I too share the frustration of other members on this forum.

We have tried 3 different Level 2 chargers and none of them will charge the VF8. They all charge my Tesla though without issue and at the same speeds. So we returned the chargers and are again using the VinFast Level 2 charger for both VinFast and the Tesla. Tesla charges just fine at 32 amps but the VinFast will only charge at 18 amps. The charging cannot keep pace with basic daily driving.

Having the same issue. The car wont charge for more the 20 minutes (2% put back into the battery) and then turns off. I use the same plug to charge my other car (Tesla) with no issues. I was monitoring the charge in the span of a minute charging cycled from 2 amps to 30 amps to 7 amps to 2 amps then shut off. In talking to service this is a known issue, however service has no updates other than it’s been reported. Today I spent 5 1/2 hours trying to charge the car and it only improved by 12% (59% to 71%) and it falls further behind every day. 6 weeks of playing this game and I am over this car already. Cannot save any of the setting ing the car, cannot drive 1 mile without every major system reporting faults. I have had services at my house 4 times in 6 weeks and keep being told they are waiting for software updates from engineering. They can’t even provide the license plate mount. Queue the lawyers.

@vf-staff20 – I wish VinFast would be honest about the issue. I reported issues in April and we are now in November and VinFast still has not resolved the charging issue. Also in 8 months of owning this car VinFast has not resolved one software issue. VinFast has taken the customers money and left them in the cold. Very Sad. VinFast also agreed they could not provide the car they promised or make any repairs to the car so they will terminate the contract and purchase the car back from us.

If you sign up during the Charge-up promo, take $1200 (I think it was) from Vinfast and put a dedicated outlet and you should be good to go. Most household fuses from the main panel are 15-30A max so you don’t want to pull 30A on a shared circuit.

I am not using lvl2 charger yet. Only using lvl1 but was having same issues with the 110v outlet. However found out that some of our outlets are shared in the garage or one of the sockets on the outlets were not functioning. So moved to an outlet with nothing plugged in and it is fine.

As for your cas is the outlet designated for the EV only or is the breaker being shared with something in the house. I would think you will need a breaker just for the charger itself so it is not shared.
